Terms of Service

Last updated [[EFFECTIVE_DATE]]

The short version We build your family a personalized atlas of places to go. We research every place and a real person reads it before it reaches you — but things change, so please check hours and prices before you drive. Going places is your call and your responsibility. If it's not right for your family, we'll refund you. Be kind, don't resell it, and talk to us if something's wrong. The full text below is what actually governs.

1. Who you're dealing with

Backyard Atlas is operated by [[LEGAL_NAME]], a sole proprietorship doing business as [[BUSINESS_NAME]], located at [[MAILING_ADDRESS]]. In these terms, "we," "us," and "our" mean that business. "You" means you, the person buying.

By buying from us or using [[DOMAIN]], you're agreeing to what's written here. If you don't agree, please don't use the service — and if you've already paid, just email us and we'll refund you.

2. What you're buying

A Family Atlas — a personalized, written guide to places worth going near your home, organized by the season each one is best. It's built from the profile you give us: your home city, how far you'll drive, your kids' ages, and what your family enjoys.

Trip guides — deeper, practical write-ups for individual places on your atlas: what time to arrive, parking, tickets, food, what to bring.

You'll get a private web link to your atlas. Keep it to yourself and your family — anyone with the link can open it.

3. What this is not

This matters more than anything else on this page, so we'll be direct about it.

4. Accuracy, and the one thing we ask of you

We research every place from real sources, we check that it appears to be operating, and a person reads your atlas before it reaches you. We work hard at this. We still can't promise it's perfect.

Before you load the car, please confirm hours, prices, closures, and any booking requirements directly with the place you're visiting. One phone call or one look at their website. That's the deal — we do the finding, you do the final check.

If we got something wrong, tell us at [[SUPPORT_EMAIL]]. We'll fix it, and we'd genuinely rather know.

5. Getting out there safely

Please read this part Springs, beaches, trails, boats, caves, farms and playgrounds all carry real risk — water, weather, wildlife, terrain, traffic. You decide where your family goes, and you are responsible for your family's safety when you get there. Use your judgment about what suits your kids, your abilities, and the conditions that day. Follow the posted rules and the instructions of the people who work there. We describe places; we don't supervise visits, and we can't assess your family's situation from here.

Age ranges in your atlas are suggestions from a stranger who has never met your children. You know them; we don't. Please treat our suggestions as a starting point for your own judgment, never a substitute for it.

6. Prices and payment

7. Refunds

If your atlas isn't right for your family, we'll refund you — the full policy is on the refund page, and it's short.

8. What you can and can't do with your atlas

Your atlas is yours to use for your own family, forever. Print it, put it on the fridge, share it with grandparents, take it in the car.

Please don't:

We keep the copyright in the writing, the design, and the compilation of your atlas. You get a permanent, personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own household. Facts about places belong to nobody.

9. Your information

You're trusting us with details about your family, including your children's ages. We take that seriously. What we collect, what we do with it, who else touches it, and how to have it deleted are all set out in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

Please give us accurate information — an atlas built on the wrong city or the wrong ages won't be much use to you.

10. This is an early product

We're small and new, and we'd rather say that out loud than pretend otherwise. The site may go down. Features may change or disappear. Generating an atlas takes a few minutes and occasionally fails, in which case we'll fix it or refund you. We don't promise any particular uptime.

We'll keep your atlas available for as long as we reasonably can. If we ever have to shut the service down, we'll give you notice and a way to save a copy.

11. Ending things

You can stop using the service whenever you want. We may suspend or end access if someone is abusing the service, breaking these terms, or acting unlawfully — but if we end your access for a reason that isn't your fault, we'll refund what you paid.

12. Where our responsibility ends

The limits, plainly

The service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information in it is accurate, complete, or current.

We are not liable for what happens on your trip. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, or expense arising from a visit to any place described in your atlas, from a place being closed or different than described, or from anything a third party does or fails to do.

Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, even if we were told they were possible.

Some places don't allow certain limits on liability or the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that's true, these limits apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, where the law forbids that.

13. If we disagree

Email us first at [[SUPPORT_EMAIL]]. Almost everything gets sorted out this way, and we'd much rather fix a problem than argue about one.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved by talking will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Florida, and we each agree to that.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product grows. The date at the top always tells you when they last changed. If a change is significant and you're an active customer, we'll email you. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
